Introduction seminar on the Manor

Hi there,

This week has so far been very fun and interesting. I haven’t been in Stranda. Instead I've been in Sarpsborg, at the Borregaard Manor (Borregaard Hovedgård), for a 3 day introduction seminar for new employees in Stabburet. Perhaps I’m not the newest member of the Stabburet-family (with my 7 months on the job...) but it was anyway a great opportunity to get to know more people within the company.

Borregaard Manor is in many ways an interesting place. It was the living place for the early norwegian Viking kings and it was here the company Borregaard was founded in 19th century (which today is a major company within Orkla). The Manor is today a very nice conference center.

This day has so far been a very efficient day at the headquarter. When I arrived this morning it was a shock to see my inbox. It’s incredible how many mails that you get on only 3 days. However, I’ve had time to clean up the mess and to do some serious work on my projects.

Tomorrow I’m heading down to Sarpsborg again. Not to visit the Manor but to visit Borregaard’s (huge) plant in order to exchange experience on the field of purchasing. It will be very interesting!

Typical AW-activity in Stranda, Norway

Hi, my name is Rickard I work at Stabburet AS, a part of Orkla Brand Foods. My title is management trainee and I'm doing my second rotation here in Stranda.

As this is my first posting on this blogg I thought it would just be boring to read about what I've done so far on my six months on the job. So, I thought I could show you guys a typical after work (AW) activity here in Stranda :)

Since the sun was shining from a clear sky this afternoon the choice of activity was obvious; I climbed a mountain. Not a very high one (ca. 1500 moh), but anyway. It might not the first option for everyone. To be honest, 5 weeks ago when I first got here it wasn't an option for me either. But since then I've understood that climbing mountains is actually pretty OK (which perhaps makes me a bit crazy...).

The picture shows me smiling after the successful ascent. At the back of the picture you see Stranda sqeezed in between the mountains and the fjord. The white indstrial building in the center of the picture is one of the factories on which I work and from now on, and for some time, I'll be sharing my experience on the job with you on this blogg. I hope you'll find it intresting!
